Branksome Hall, a leading independent International Baccalaureate (IB) World School, offers remarkable Day Camps during the summer. Join our dynamic team, on a picturesque 13-acre campus in the heart of Toronto utilizing our state-of-the-art facilities. We provide high-quality, comprehensive programming for over 1,400 campers aged 4 to 15, spanning Arts, Sports, STEM, Swim and Leadership Camps. The Opportunity:
We’re looking for creative and dynamic Camp Group Leads to join our team!
Group Leads will be responsible for the overall leadership of their assigned group, including program plans and scheduling, along with the safety and supervision of the campers. They will utilize their skills and experience in the particular program area to lead the delivery of lessons and programming and assume active leadership, providing guidance to Camp Counsellors through a collaborative approach. Group Leads will maintain open lines of communication with campers, colleagues, and families. They will lead with dedication, creativity, and enthusiasm as positive role models and ensure a safe and fun environment for all members of our community.
Term Details:
Mandatory Training Dates: May 9, June 6, June 14 & June 16, 2026
Work Term: June 22 - August 21, 2026
Hours: 8-8.5 hours daily, from Monday-Friday
Shift Schedule: Group Leads will work from 8:15-4:30 p.m. daily, with rotational assigned shifts for Before and/or After Care starting at 7:45 a.m. or ending at 6:00 p.m.
Camp Closures: July 1st, 2026 and August 3rd, 2026
Key Accountabilities include, but are not limited to:
Leadership & Program Management: Assume active leadership of the camp group, managing all activities, logistics, and program adaptation (weather, progression). Lead the detailed delivery of specialized and camp-style programs, coordinating necessary supplies and resources.Work collaboratively and delegate duties to counsellors assigned to your group.
Safety, Risk & Supervision: Ensure the physical and emotional safety of all campers and staff by actively supervising and assessing and mitigating risks throughout the day. Ensure that everyone is included and engaged in activities. Actively manage risk by enforcing all camp policies, safety guidelines, and emergency procedures, and promptly reporting incidents.
Team Development & Professional Conduct: Oversee, support, and mentor Camp Counsellors, serving as a positive, respectful role model for the entire camp community. Foster leadership development through delegation and a collaborative approach. Exemplify excellent customer service and communication, particularly when dealing with parents/guardians.
Operational & Administrative: Maintain accurate records (attendance, incident reports), a clean, safe environment, and ensure careful use of equipment. Demonstrate punctuality, organization, and flexibility to adapt to changing duties, staffing, and enrollment needs.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Must have completed specific training/education, and/or have sufficient experience in the area of specialization
- Camp experience or experience leading programs for children/youth strongly preferred
- Completed secondary education or equivalent is preferred
- Current Standard First Aid/CPR certification required before start of camp
- Proven leadership skills developed through progressive responsibility
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Enhanced Police Information Check (EPIC) required
- Ability to take charge, problem solve and motivate others while working independently with minimal supervision
- Ability to collaborate with and lead a wide variety of ages and demographic groups
Working Conditions & Physical Requirements:
- Able to work in an outdoor environment in all weather conditions
- Participate and engage in recreational swim and all types of outdoor & indoor activities, including but not limited to running around, sitting on the ground, being in the swimming pool, etc.
- May require assisting campers with clothing changes
- Lifting and moving camp equipment and supplies from one location to another
- Walking and/or standing for long periods of time (3+ hours at a time, 7+ hours per day)
Compensation & Benefits:
- Hourly pay rate ranges from $19.00 to $21.00, depending on experience
