The Opportunity:
We’re looking for passionate Camp Counsellors to join our team!
Camp Counsellors will collaborate with colleagues to guide our campers through various activities and programming, focused on personal growth and skill development. Using strong interpersonal skills to maintain open lines of communication with families and colleagues, Camp Counsellors will demonstrate their responsibility, dedication, good judgement and enthusiasm to ensure a safe and fun environment for all members of our community.
Term Details:
Mandatory Training Dates: June 6, June 14 & June 16, 2026
Work Term: June 22 - August 21, 2026 (minimum 5-week commitment during this time frame, preference given to candidates who can work most or all weeks)
Hours: 8-8.5 hours daily, from Monday-Friday
Shift Schedule: Counsellors will be assigned shifts between 7:45 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., with rotating weekly shifts
Camp Closures: July 1st, 2026 and August 3rd, 2026
Key Accountabilities include, but are not limited to:
Camper Safety & Supervision: Actively supervise and be attentive to the physical and emotional safety of all campers throughout the day, including during activities, transitions, and high-traffic times (drop-off/pick-up, lunch).
Program Leadership & Delivery: Lead assigned activities, assist with program setup and clean up, and foster communication, inclusion, skill-building, and fair play between campers and the group as a whole
Communication: Maintain open and proactive communication with colleagues, and families if needed. Assist in maintaining accurate records (attendance, incident reports), and be quick with reporting any concerns or incidents.
Collaboration & Teamwork: Attend all scheduled meetings/training, be punctual, organized, and ready to support all camp staff and campers; be able to adjust as duties may change based on camp needs.
Professional Conduct & Compliance: Serve as a positive role model, uphold all camp policies, values, and safety procedures, and maintain a clean, safe, and fun camp environment.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Previous camp experience or related experience working with youth/children
- Skills, education or relevant experience in the desired program area
- Current Standard First Aid/CPR certification required before start of camp
- Enhanced Police Information Check (EPIC) required for staff 18 years of age or older, and Criminal Offense Declaration for those younger than 18 years of age
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to problem solve effectively and work independently with minimal supervision
- Ability to work as part of a team with a wide variety of ages and demographic groups
Working Conditions & Physical Requirements:
- Able to work in an outdoor environment in all weather conditions
- Participate and engage in recreational swim and all types of outdoor & indoor activities, including but not limited to running around, sitting on the ground, being in the swimming pool, etc.
- May require assisting campers with clothing changes
- Lifting and moving camp equipment and supplies from one location to another
- Walking and/or standing for long periods of time (3+ hours at a time, 7+ hours per day)
Compensation & Benefits:
- Hourly pay rate ranges from $16.60 to $18.60, depending on experience
