We’re looking for a Lower School LTO Teacher to join our team for a one year contract starting in September, 2026. Reporting to the Head of Lower School and Preschool, and acting as a Homeroom Teacher, you’ll provide instruction in a variety of subjects including Language, Math, Science and Social Studies. You’ll build a well-rounded classroom environment that is safe, respectful, nurturing and supportive of each individual child and dedicated to the development of the whole child.

What You’ll Be Doing:
- Preparing, developing and implementing engaging lesson plans for students in Mathematics, Language, Science and Social Studies, individually and in groups, consistent with the Bayview Glen curriculum and differentiating these plans according to student needs
- Using a variety of teaching strategies and instructional materials to meet the diverse learning needs of students
- Observing and evaluating each student’s performance, behavior, social development, and physical health
- Maintaining timely and effective communication with students, parents and faculty
- Promoting a classroom environment dedicated to the Bayview Glen “Whole Child, Purposeful Life, Better World” educational philosophy
- Meeting with parents and guardians to discuss their children's progress and needs, determining their priorities for their children, and suggesting ways that they can promote learning and development
- Developing and maintaining current, accurate and confidential progress reports for each student
What You’ll Need:
- A Bachelor of Education Degree in Primary/Junior or equivalent;
- Membership, in good standing, with the Ontario College of Teachers;
- One to two years of experience working with children at the Lower School level;
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to adjust style to communicate to different audiences (i.e., children, staff, etc.);
- Excellent knowledge of child development and the latest education theories and practices;
- Strong interpersonal skills with a warm, engaging and welcoming demeanor;
- Excellent knowledge of child development and supervision principles and practices;
- Ability to adapt learning plans, strategies and methods when the classroom approaches are not getting measurable results. Ability to differentiate teaching approaches and strategies to meet the diverse learning needs of all students in the classroom;
- Experience with Structured Literacy and the delivery of Direct Instruction programing is an asset;
- Familiarity with the Reggio Emilia philosophy considered an asset;
- Willingness and enthusiasm towards participating in the co-curricular program and school community.

Compensation follows the School’s faculty salary grid and is based on education, additional qualifications, and years of direct teaching experience. The salary range will be based on our grid from $82,579 (for candidates with 5 years of teaching experience) to $130,158 (for those with 10 plus years of teaching experience).
