Position Overview:
Pickering College is seeking an experienced and dynamic ESL/GLP Camp Director to lead the planning, coordination, and delivery of International Summer Programs, including English as a Second Language (ESL) and Global Leadership Program (GLP) camps as well as any other overnight camps that might be programmed.
This role provides comprehensive leadership and operational oversight of the camp programming – ensuring safe, engaging, and high-quality experiences for all participants and staff. The Camp Director works closely with and reports to the Executive Director, Boarding and Health Services and collaborates across departments to manage scheduling, logistics, staffing, budget and communication with families and agents.
Key Responsibilities:
· Lead the planning, scheduling, and daily operations of the ESL, GLP and any other overnight summer programs.
· Oversee the administrative processes, including camp records, and arrival/departure logistics.
· Manage the summer program budget, track expenditures, reconcile receipts, and maintain petty cash accounts.
· Develop and manage staff schedules, ensuring adequate coverage and compliance with rest requirements.
· Coordinate airport transfers, weekend excursions and evening activities in partnership with the Associate Directors and camp staff.
· Recruit, train, schedule, and supervise summer program staff (Associate Directors, Counsellors, Counsellors and Counsellors-In-Training).
· Liaise with Facilities, Food Services, IT, Transportation and Business Office to ensure seamless daily operations.
· Collaborate with the Health Centre and camp staff to maintain adherence to all health, safety and emergency procedures.
· Communicate regularly with parents, agents, and school partners regarding camper wellbeing and program updates.
· Prepare documentation, evaluations, and reports to support continuous program improvement.
Desirable Qualifications:
· Bachelor’s Degree in Education, Recreation, or a related field.
· Minimum 3-5 years of experience in camp administration, boarding schools, or international education.
· Proven leadership in program coordination, scheduling, budgeting, and staff supervision.
· Exceptional organizational and problem-solving skills with strong attention to detail.
· Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including cross-cultural sensitivity.
· Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, during the summer program.
· Current First Aid/CPR certification.
· Mental Health First Aid certification an asset.
· Vulnerable Sector Check required prior to start date.

AI will not be used during the hiring process. The weekly rate is $1550/week. There is additional prep time pay of up to 40 hours beginning in March 2026.
