Director of Junior School

An exciting opportunity exists at The Country Day School for an experienced and inspirational educator to lead our Junior School. With the well-being of the whole student at the forefront, this position will involve providing overall leadership to all aspects of the Junior School, with a strong commitment to fostering an inclusive and respectful educational environment. This multi-faceted and challenging position requires an extensive breadth and depth of experience in pedagogy and curriculum, allowing for a focus on numeracy, language acquisition and reading for the primary/junior student. The successful candidate will have the ability to relate easily and naturally to students, parents and faculty. As a member of the Leadership Team, the successful candidate will work collaboratively with the other school directors, lead teachers and divisional chairs to implement and forward the vision and ethos of the CDS community to provide an Education with Balance.
The ideal candidate has experience in a leadership role (preferably in an independent school setting) and is able to demonstrate long-standing excellence in teaching and sound judgment. Furthermore, the candidate will need to demonstrate their passion for working with learners through a well-developed philosophy of education that focuses on knowing and supporting the learner and possesses a leadership style that is both inspirational and team-based. Completion of the CAIS Leadership Institute and/or PQP programs is preferred.

Employment Details:
● This position is for a vacancy commencing August 2026.
● Salary Range: $150,000 – $200,000 (commensurate with experience).
● Pension: Participation in the Ontario Teachers’ Pension Plan (OTPP) when applicable.
● Environment: A collaborative, thriving workplace on a beautiful rural campus.
