JOB PURPOSE
The York School is seeking a passionate and dedicated After Care Supervisor to oversee and support a high-quality program aligned with the International Baccalaureate (IB) framework and the school’s mission, vision, and values. The After Care Program provides care for students in JK to Grade 6, Monday to Friday from 3:00pm until 6:00pm. The ideal candidate will build meaningful relationships with students, supporting their social, emotional, and personal growth while contributing to a collaborative school culture. In addition to the daily coordination and supervision of the After Care Program, the successful candidate will engage students through a variety of indoor and outdoor activities and contribute positively to the broader life of the school community.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Lead the daily operations, planning, and delivery of the Junior School Aftercare Program, ensuring a safe, inclusive, and engaging environment aligned with school’s best practices
- Supervise students indoors and outdoors, including arrival, dismissal, homework support, snack time, and safe release procedures, in accordance with health, safety, and emergency protocols
- Maintain accurate attendance records and required documentation, ensuring compliance with all school policies and procedures
- Build and maintain positive, professional relationships with students, families, and colleagues, addressing inquiries and supporting individual student needs
- Maintain organized, clean, and safe learning environments
- Oversee and manage program resources and supplies, ensuring materials are available, well maintained, and appropriate for daily activities and programming.
- Manage capacity and deliverables of a high-performing team, ensuring quality work and accountability to meet timelines
- Motivate, engage, coach, and performance manage the Aftercare Assistant, including onboarding and ongoing development
- Other job duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS
- Diploma in Early Childhood Education, Child and Youth Care, Child Studies, Education, or a related field
- 2+ years of experience working with children aged 4 to 12 in a school, camp, or childcare setting.
- Previous supervisory or team leadership experience preferred
- Strong understanding of child development and age appropriate programming
- Demonstrated leadership, organizational, and decision making skills
- Proven ability to work effectively as part of a collaborative, interdisciplinary team, contributing to a positive, inclusive school culture
- Proven strength in fostering respectful, responsive, and professional relationships with students, families, and colleagues, ensuring a service oriented approach in all interactions
- Proficiency in navigating a technologically rich school environment, with expertise in Google Workspace considered an asset

The starting rate of pay for this position is 25.50/hour plus 4% vacation pay.
