The Opportunity:

The Boarding Advisors are members of a team that live on-campus to support a group of approximately 48 boarding students. There are two boarding houses that Boarding Advisors rotationally supervise, providing students with social-emotional support in the evenings and weekends, as well as plan and execute stimulating programming.

In this role, you will support boarding students to thrive in the academic, co-curricular and boarding program. They establish and maintain on-going communication with the parents and guardians of boarding students and facilitate a boarding curriculum unique to the age and stage of each student.

The scheduling for this role is on a seven day weekly rotation that includes weekday/weekend functions as required. This is a one-year position commencing in mid-August to the end of June that is renewable for up to three years. The Boarding Advisor vacation periods will coincide with the closure of the Houses during the December and March breaks.

This posting is for an existing vacancy with a projected start date of August 24, 2026, with a move in onto campus the days prior.

Key Accountabilities include, but are not limited to:

Plan and act as a chaperone on day trips and during the weekend when on duty
Provide direct supervision when on duty in the Houses by being present and accessible to all students
Participate as member of the Circle of Care by supporting student safety plans and working in tandem with the student support team, and complete appropriate risk assessment forms
Supporting each student as they grow and mature towards having the confidence and experience to make good independent decisions and practice positive self-care
Implement Branksome Hall’s Code of Conduct; this includes aligning with the expectations of the wider school community
Ensure the Houses are safe, comfortable, and in working order, while submitting work orders as required
Lead a Boarding Community group (Family group) and assist with weekly dinner activities to build community that align with the Boarding curriculum
Communicate two-three times a term with parents/guardians via email and Zoom, updating them the social-emotional development of their child
Able to live on-campus and work rotationally through a weekly morning, afternoon, evening and weekend schedule including sleeping overnight in the Houses
Supervise students on other occasions that coincide with the academic timetable, such as during Week Without Halls, during midterm exam and final exam periods, and during specific long weekend break periods throughout the year

Candidate Profile:

Available to live full time on-campus and be accessible to boarding students
A degree in Social Work, Counselling, Paramedics or an Ontario Teachers’ Certificate or equivalent would be considered a strong asset
Current Personal Training, Fitness Certification, Red Cross/LSS, NLS, First Aid and CPR certifications are an asset
Relevant experience working and living with youth, including, but not limited to in a social work, communal living, or counselling environment
Experience with risk management practices
Proven ability to provide leadership, guidance, and support for the social-emotional wellbeing, academic and co-curricular development of youth
Ability to be flexible, enthusiastic, work independently and collaborate with team members
Ability to act as a role model and demonstrate a positive wellness lifestyle including mindfulness and healthy choices
Strong communicator with ability to build rapport and relationships with students and families

Target Hiring Range: $55,757.52 - $69,750.72 annually (salary will be prorated based on a 44-week term)
