Overview
Reporting to the Farm Property and Programs Manager, Blue and Silver Farm Summer Students will assist in maintaining growing zones, general property maintenance and landscaping. The Blue and Silver Farm Sumer Students will be fully involved in the maintenance and general labour at the farmhouse and on the property at large. Farm Summer Students will play an integral role at the farm to ensure that Pickering College’s Mission Statement and Vision are put into practice.
Key Responsibilities
· Maintain a safe environment for all constituents
· Complete tasks related to property landscaping, gardening and general maintenance
· Support the development, maintenance, cleaning, repair and security of the farm buildings, grounds, equipment, and other facilities consistent with the policies and procedures of the farm and related programming.
· Operate the Kubota and other small machinery
· Monitor volunteers, camp programs and other authorized visitors
· Support Pickering College events at the B&S farm through set up, take down and other logistics
· Support long-term planning of agricultural projects including developing gardens, land regeneration, small crops, tree maintenance, invasive species removal, greenhouse use etc.
· Maintain program assets requiring daily attention such as chicken coops, maple tapping, watering gardens, bees, etc.
Qualifications and Skills Required:
· Agricultural experience including use of farm equipment is an asset
· Understanding food growth is an asset
· Hands-on Custodial, repairs, light upholstery, and maintenance experience
· Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with focus on customer service
· Energetic, ability to work in a team environment and to work independently
· Ability to lift 50 lbs
· Valid driver’s license
· Adheres to all Health and Safety regulations and policies

The hourly rate of pay is $18.75.
