Pickering College is recruiting a qualified Special Education teacher with a passion for educating and supporting the learning of Middle School students. This position involves overseeing the learning support program and teaching responsibilities based on the candidate’s qualifications. We are seeking a candidate who possesses passion, compassion, subject-area expertise, instructional excellence, proven curriculum innovation, and an eagerness to become involved in the co-curricular programming at the school.
Our Middle School program features a unique, interdisciplinary community engagement program called SPARC that occurs weekly. The successful candidate will be part of a team that leads a project-based experience for our students.
Specific Responsibilities include:
• Provide learning support half time
• Collaborate with team members to support students with unique needs
• Teach classes based on qualifications
• Engage with students in project-based community engaged learning (SPARC)
• Lead and participate in co-curricular activities
• Lead a Student Advisor Group
• Participate in division and department meetings, professional development and whole school activities
Experience and Qualifications include:
• Bachelor of Education, Intermediate Division
• Special Education qualifications; 3-5 years of experience
• Member in good standing with the Ontario College of Teachers
• Comprehensive knowledge of the Ontario curriculum
• Passion for innovation and creativity in education
• Commitment to students’ academic and personal success, including the development of learning skills
• Ability to engage with and implement the objectives of Pickering College’s Global Leadership Program
• Effective integration/use of technology to enhance teaching and learning
Pickering College provides a competitive compensation package, including a Health Benefits Plan and participation in the Ontario Teachers’ Pension Plan. The salary ranges are based on our salary grid and ranges from $63,881 to $88,324 for early career teachers and $88,191 to $120,447 for teachers with five years or more of experience. Final placement on our grid will be determined by the teacher’s years of experience, education and additional qualifications (AQs)
