THE OPPORTUNITY
On behalf of The Mabin School, we are seeking a dynamic, strategic, and community-oriented Director of Admissions & Communications to join the Leadership Team.
Reporting to the Principal, this individual will lead all aspects of admissions, enrollment strategy, marketing, and communications, playing a critical role in shaping the school’s growth, brand, and community engagement. This is a highly visible and relationship- driven role that interfaces with prospective families, current parents, faculty, alumni, and the Board.
The Director will serve as a key ambassador for the school, responsible for articulating and elevating Mabin’s unique value proposition in a competitive independent school landscape. They will bring a thoughtful, data-informed approach to enrollment management while also fostering a warm, inclusive, and highly personalized admissions experience that reflects the school’s values. This role offers the opportunity to drive strategic initiatives, strengthen community connections, and play a meaningful part in advancing the school’s mission and long-term vision.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Admissions & Enrollment Strategy
• Lead the full admissions lifecycle, including inquiries, tours, interviews, offers, and onboarding of new families
• Manage re-enrollment and retention strategies to maintain strong enrollment and waitlists
• Track and analyze admissions data, including enrollment trends, attrition, and conversion metrics
• Ensure an inclusive, transparent, and welcoming admissions experience for all families
Marketing & Communications
• Oversee all school communications, including newsletters, website, and social media (Instagram, LinkedIn, Facebook)
• Lead the development of marketing materials and ensure consistency of the Mabin brand
• Manage and edit key publications, including the school’s annual magazine
• Capture and promote the daily life and key moments of the school community
Community Engagement & Events
• Serve as a key ambassador for the school, presenting to prospective families and representing Mabin at events
• Lead Open Houses, tours, and admissions-related events
• Collaborate with the Parent Association and support community-building initiatives
• Develop programs such as parent ambassador initiatives to enhance engagement
Leadership & Governance
• Partner with the Leadership Team to align admissions and communications with the school’s mission and strategic priorities
• Present to the Board as required and contribute to broader school initiatives
• Support key transitions, including Grade 6 to 7 placements
EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS
- 2–3+ years of experience in admissions within an independent school
environment
• Experience in communications, marketing, or brand management (education sector preferred)
• Strong understanding of the Toronto independent school landscape
• Demonstrated leadership experience in an educational or community-focused setting
• Exceptional interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills
• Commitment to equitable admissions practices and inclusive community building
• OCT designation considered an asset
