The Opportunity
KCS is seeking an Intermediate-Senior Music Teacher for a Full-Time Permanent role. Candidates who are knowledgeable with, and value a standards-based approach to assessment and evaluation; a teaching style that integrates and is philosophically aligned with experiential, place-based learning; and have a record of leveraging student strengths, talents, and passions in peak learning will find this opportunity notably rewarding.

Anticipated start at KCS would be August 2026.
Key Responsibilities
1. Engage as a collaborative, flexible, co-creator of a school experience that delivers extraordinary learning and growth.
2. Support the development of a scope and sequence of inspiration, opportunity, and skills in the KCS music program with a focus on Grades 7 - 9.
3. Design and lead in-class instruction, course planning, and assessment, ensuring alignment with the philosophy of Standards-Based Assessment and Growing Success.
4. Lead and/or support a minimum of 2 extra-curricular student Bands per year
5. Support a student-driven leadership committee through the KCS By Design Program.
6. Actively contribute to the life of the school by supporting school-wide events, including assemblies, concerts, ceremonies, and community gatherings.
7. Help to manage the instrument fleet to inform the health of instruments and the band budget.
8. Engage in ongoing professional learning and share that learning to support the achievement of the mission.
9. Work with school administration and leadership to establish a community where all demonstrate the KCS Habits of Mind, Body, and Action, and our Three School Rules.

What You Bring
- Bachelor’s degree in music or a related field
- OCT certification
- 5 years of experience teaching music in a school setting
- Strong performance and technical skills
- Strong theoretical and music history knowledge
- Experience in classroom instrumental band instruction and music composition
- Exceptional problem-solving, attention to detail, and communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities, independently troubleshoot, and work collaboratively
- Exceptional ability to work as a team
- Commitment to the mission and values of KCS
- Eligible to work in Canada
Assets:
- Experience in independent schools
- Advanced degree or qualifications
- Experience conducting and arranging music

Salary Range:
KCS follows a salary grid that is dependent upon both qualifications and years ofexperience. The salary grid ranges from $ 43,253 to $95,550 for up to five years ofapplicable experience, commensurate with respective level of qualifications and from$61,457 to $122,458 for candidates with six years to ten years or more experience.
