The Opportunity:
We are seeking a Design teacher with expertise in Robotics to work in our Senior School on a full-time, permanent basis. In a community where social-emotional learning and diversity, equity and inclusion are key priorities, the successful candidate demonstrates empathy, creativity, strong communication skills and the ability to build a caring rapport with students and colleagues. The successful candidate will join the Design Department and report to the Director of Curriculum Innovation.

Key Accountabilities include, but are not limited to:
- Using a lens of social-emotional learning, create a class environment that inspires and supports learning and personal growth;
- Motivate students to develop skills, attitudes and knowledge needed to provide a solid foundation for further education in accordance with each students ability;
- Fosters a love of language and literature in young people;
- Establish positive relationships with parents, faculty and other staff members;
- Ensure the written, taught and assessed curriculum is in line with the IB and Ministry of Education curriculum ensuring differentiation;
- Develop culturally relevant, inclusive and responsive Design curriculums for diverse learners;
- Develop course outlines, unit plans, lesson plans ensuring integration of all aspects of the IB Middle Years Program and Diploma Program curricula, with a focus on inquiry based learning;
- Update all necessary records accurately as required by the Ministry, IBO and school guidelines;
- Communicate information regularly to students, colleagues and parents regarding student progress including formally through report cards and parent-teacher meetings;
- Keep up-to-date and incorporate best practices in subject area and approaches to teaching and learning through professional reading, participating in workshops and other professional development opportunities;
- Participate actively in faculty and department/division meetings and meet regularly with all course teams to plan, review and update the written curriculum;
- Assume responsibility for and participate in co-curricular activities and supervision duties.
Candidate Profile:
- Bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited institution with a specialist in Technological Design;
- Ontario College of Teachers certification or equivalent degree with I/S qualifications in Technological Design;
- Minimum three years’ teaching experience preferred;
- Experience in and knowledge of IB is a strong asset;
- Extensive experience of the Vex V5/Vex iQ platforms is desired;
- Experience with Adobe Illustrator, Autodesk Fusion and fabrication technologies is strongly desired;
- Strong curriculum development skills and assessment practices that incorporate strategies relevant to the age and stage assessment practices;
- A relational educator who incorporates Social-Emotional Learning and emotional coaching strategies in their practice;
- Experience and/or commitment to incorporating equity, diversity, inclusion and belonging principles into curriculum development and teaching practice;
- Knowledge of Google for Education Workspace and Apple Technologies and able to work in a laptop and online environment;
- Embraces innovation and collaboration;
- Adept at leveraging technology to deliver education program and correspond with students, parents, colleagues and the community at large;
- Belief in and alignment to Branksome Hall’s mission, vision and values:

- Ability to work both independently with little direct supervision as well as be a collaborative team member.

Target Hiring Range:
Placement on the Branksome Hall Faculty Salary Grid is determined based upon years of applicable teaching experience, level of education completed, and Additional Qualifications (AQs). The grid ranges from $70,903.08 – $101,270.67 for up to 6 years of applicable experience and $101,615.33 – $134,998.82 for more than 6 years of applicable experience.
