This is an exciting time to join the school. In the 2026–2027 academic year, Northmount will open a newly constructed and renovated facility, including a state-of-the-art STEM Lab and a range of additional modern learning spaces designed to support both academic excellence and student formation.
Position Description
Northmount School is seeking a dynamic and engaging faculty member to serve as a STEM Teacher, with primary responsibility for teaching Science and Mathematics in the Junior and Middle School, along with responsibilities as an Intermediate Homeroom Teacher and Advisor.
Reporting to the Head of School and working closely with the Vice-Principal of Character Education and Director of Academics, the successful candidate will play a key role in delivering a rigorous and engaging academic program while supporting the formation of each student.
This role emphasizes strong classroom instruction, the development of foundational knowledge in math and science, and the thoughtful integration of technology and hands-on learning in the school’s brand-new STEM Lab. It also includes a central role in mentoring students through Northmount’s Advisory Program.

Primary Responsibilities
Classroom Instruction & Program Delivery
• Plan and deliver high-quality instruction in Science and Mathematics aligned with Ontario curriculum expectations
• Build strong foundational knowledge through clear, structured, and evidence-based teaching practices
• Design engaging lessons that promote critical thinking, problem solving, and scientific inquiry
• Use assessment to inform instruction and support student growth and achievement
• Create a positive, structured classroom environment that supports both learning and character formation
Homeroom & Advisory
• Serve as an Intermediate Homeroom Teacher, responsible for the overall well-being and day-to-day support of students
• Act as an Advisor, providing guidance, mentorship, and consistent support to a group of students
• Build strong relationships with students rooted in trust, respect, and high expectations
• Support the development of character through Northmount’s virtue framework
• Partner with parents to support student growth, both academically and personally
STEM Integration & Experiential Learning
• Design opportunities for students to apply their learning through experiments, design challenges, and real-world problem solving
• Integrate technology in meaningful ways (e.g., coding, 3D design/printing) to enhance student learning
• Support and contribute to co-curricular STEM initiatives such as robotics teams, innovation challenges, or showcases
• Leverage Northmount’s Innovation Hub and STEM Lab to enrich program delivery
Curriculum Collaboration & Development
• Collaborate with colleagues to ensure alignment and coherence in Science and Mathematics across grades
• Contribute to curriculum planning and the development of scope and sequence where appropriate
• Support cross-curricular connections that enhance student understanding and engagement
• Participate in academic discussions and professional learning opportunities led by school leadership
Student Formation & School Life
• Contribute to the formation of students through a program rooted in Catholic virtues
• Model professionalism, integrity, and care in all interactions with students and colleagues
• Participate actively in school life, including co-curricular and religious activities, and events
Qualifications
• Bachelor of Education (or equivalent) and Ontario College of Teachers certification (or eligibility)
• Strong background in Mathematics and Science
• Proven effectiveness as a classroom teacher at the elementary and/or middle school level
• Strong classroom management and relationship-building skills
• Practicing Catholic, committed to supporting the spiritual life of the school
Additional Assets
• Experience with robotics, coding, or design-based learning
• Familiarity with learning management systems (e.g., Edsby)
• Interest in boys’ education and evidence-based instructional practices
