Bannockburn has an authentic Montessori program from toddler (18 months) through to Grade 6 with advanced academic standards. Bannockburn is a warm and welcoming environment that every family is proud to call home.
We are looking for a creative, dynamic part-time art teacher to join our team of seasoned educators. The art teacher’s responsibilities include sourcing art supplies, preparing lessons for ages 4-12 in a Montessori environment and providing developmentally appropriate instruction on art techniques. Creating an environment that encourages creativity and self expression among students is crucial, as well as a willingness to collaborate with classroom teachers.
Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
· Preparing a welcoming classroom environment that reflects a commitment to support students
· Providing students an educational experience designed to inspire and challenge them to achieve their full potential
· Supporting the growth and development of students through the delivery of the planned lessons on art in accordance with student learning objectives
· Maintaining and preparing a clean, orderly classroom
· Monitoring inventory and sourcing art supplies
· Maintain accurate student record keeping, including long and short-term lesson plans, observations and individual progress documentation
· Establishing positive relationships with students, other faculty members, and parents in the school community
· Participating actively in all staff, faculty, and department responsibilities (recess duty) and meetings to plan, review, and implement learning, including parent teacher conferences
· Actively participant in the community life of the school, including attendance at school events
· Planning and participating in field trips, special events, and professional development
Qualifications, Experience and Attributes:
• Bachelor’s degree in fine arts
• Teaching qualifications or Montessori Diploma preferred (AMI or MACTE)
• Experience in creating an educational environment that enables students to learn, develop and grow to their full potential
• A demonstrated passion for teaching art to children
• A proven professional approach and work ethic
• Strong communication skills required (oral and written)
• Effective classroom management and organizational skills
• Current Standard First Aid/CPR-C (or willing to obtain before starting)
• Current Vulnerable Screening Police Record Check (or willing to obtain before starting)
Bannockburn offers:
· A supportive, inspiring learning and teaching environment
· Part time hours – 2 days a week equivalent
· September to June, as per school calendar
· Hourly rate $27.00-30.00/ hr. dependant on education and experience
