Ashbury College is a leading not-for-profit independent day and boarding school for students in Grades 3 to 12 located in Canada’s capital and on the traditional, unceded territory of the Anishinàbe Algonquin Nation. Located in central Ottawa, Ashbury College is seeking a full-time Summer Credit Course Physics Teacher to deliver a Ontario High School Credit courses for summer students. Teaching assignments will encompass interactive and engaging lessons aligned with the Growing Success framework and Ontario Ministry requirements. The teacher supports diverse student learning needs and maintains professional, timely communication with students and families.
Dates and Schedule:
- Classes: June 22 – July 17, 2026
- Class hours: 8:30am – 4:00pm every day
- No class: Wednesday, July 1 (Canada Day)
- Final exams/assessments: July 17
- Required attendance: Brief in-person credit teacher orientation meeting in May
Minimum Requirements
- Ontario Certified Teacher (OCT) in good standing.
- Teaching Qualifications in Intermediate and Senior Divisions, Science – Physics
- First Aid/CPR: Required (training can be provided if certification is not current)
- Vulnerable Sector Check
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience teaching high school physics

Specific Responsibilities Include:
- Deliver engaging, well-paced lessons to classes of 4–20 students
- Support the full spectrum of student learning needs, including implementation of accommodations
- Grade assessments according to Growing Success, Ontario Ministry, and Ashbury standards
- Provide professional, clear, and prompt communication to students and families
- Supervise students during lunch and in school halls, supporting adherence to the student code of conduct
- Ensure course structure and expectations parallel to in-year programs, adapted for the condensed summer timeline
- Manage student behaviour and respond promptly to incidents in accordance with camp policies.
- Assist with equipment and materials setup at the start of each day and reset at the end of the day.
- Provide a safety briefing for students on the first day and a tour of the building, including an overview of fire routes.
- Maintain awareness of all student medical and educational accommodations to provide appropriate support.
