EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR, ADVANCEMENT & EXTERNAL RELATIONS
Bayview Glen is currently seeking a versatile and strategic leader with a demonstrated history of success to join our team as the Executive Director of Advancement & External Relations, commencing as soon as possible. The position will focus on providing strategic leadership and operational excellence in the areas of Advancement, Community Engagement, Enrollment Management, and Communications and Marketing. The Executive Director of Advancement & External Relations will be responsible for the development and implementation of strategic priorities, and the execution of results that enhance the School’s philanthropic culture, foster community relationships and drive student enrollment and retention. We are seeking a visionary leader with strong skills in fundraising, marketing, enrollment management and strategic planning who will work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders to support the School’s mission, vision and strategic plan. The role reports to the Head of School, is a member of the School’s Senior Leadership Team, and works closely alongside, the Board, Faculty and Staff, and the School community.
General responsibilities of this role will include, but are not limited to, the following:
ADVANCEMENT
- Leads the preparation, implementation and execution of a comprehensive advancement plan to support the strategic priorities and financial goals of the School in areas such as constituent giving, annual giving, major gifts, planned giving, endowments, capital campaigns, and special events.
- Cultivate and steward relationships with prospective donors, donors, alumni, parents, and other key stakeholders.
- Work in partnership with the Advancement Committee of the Board to execute strategic advancement goals.
- Lead consultations with senior staff and Board of Directors to raise awareness and drive relationship development/management to optimize donations.
- Ensure department objectives, projects and critical paths for advancement campaigns are being met through best practice implementation.
- Prepare and manage the advancement targets and budget, providing regular reports to the Head of School and Board of Directors.
- Identify and implement best practices for ethical solicitation, follow-through, and evaluation.
COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT
- Create and implement engagement strategies and annual/multi-year plans for both internal and external stakeholders, including the community, volunteers, faculty and staff, to enhance the School’s profile and support its mission and strategic advancement goals.
- Foster a strong sense of community among students, parents, alumni, faculty, and staff.
- Serve as the primary liaison to the Parent Association and other parent volunteer groups to ensure their community engagement events align with the overall strategic advancement goals.
- Oversee the School’s PA (Uniform) Shop.
- Develop partnerships with local businesses, organizations, and community leaders for continued and potential support of the School.
- Serve as an ambassador for the School throughout the community.
- Identify opportunities for mutual benefit of the School and community members.
- Attend all Board meetings and provide monthly updates to the Board.
- Provide leadership within the Advancement Committee and work in consultation with the Chair of the Advancement Committee on annual priorities.
- Attend School events throughout the year during the day and evenings for stewardship and strategic purposes.
ENROLLMENT MANAGEMENT
- Design and develop a comprehensive strategic enrollment management plan to attract, enroll, and retain a wide, diverse and talented applicant pool from Preschool to Grade 12.
- Oversee the full scope of the Admissions strategy and process, including marketing, recruitment, application review, and enrollment decisions.
- Analyze enrollment data, key data metrics and trends to inform decision-making and make strategic long-term decisions and adjustments.
- Assess the success of the strategy, recruitment activities and communications, to identify areas for improvement and conceptualize appropriate changes.
- Research and assess economic and social factors that may affect recruitment and implement mitigation strategies.
- Communicate with and engage senior management, faculty and staff in the admissions strategy and activities.
LEADERSHIP & STRATEGIC MANAGEMENT
- Leads a dedicated team within Advancement, Enrollment Management and Communications and Marketing, ensuring effective use of resources and alignment with the School’s strategic objectives.
- Develops, mentors and empowers operational team members through a performance growth plan model and the establishment of goals, deliverables, objectives, tasks and professional development plans to promote a culture of performance excellence and strategic alignment.
- Provide the vision, strategic direction and leadership in formulating strategic campaigns, programs, policies and procedures for Bayview Glen’s communication and marketing team to align strategic priorities, effectively reach the desired stakeholders and execute on deliverables.
- Work collaboratively with other members of the Senior Leadership Team to execute the School’s strategic priorities.

QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS
- Undergraduate and/or Graduate studies in a related field coupled with a minimum of 7 years of leadership experience in Advancement and/or Enrollment Management.
- Participant or completion of the CAIS Leadership Institute and Certified Fundraising Executive (CFRE) certification would be considered an asset.
- Proven track record in the achievement of fundraising and enrollment targets.
- Possess an ability to understand, adapt and integrate into new environments.
- Inclusive leadership style with highly developed people management, relationship building and interpersonal skills.
- A humble leader who is empathetic, self-aware, trustworthy, transparent, and collegial.
- Exceptional strategic acumen for developing innovative strategies to enhance initiatives in fundraising, enrollment management, community engagement and communications and marketing.
- Excellent project management skills including the ability to plan and collaborate with other stakeholders across the School.
- Superior communication skills, both verbal and written, along with outstanding presentation abilities.
- Time management expertise in order to juggle multiple priorities at one time and balance both big picture strategic planning with a keen attention to detail.
- Advanced computer skills in Microsoft Office and Raiser’s Edge.
- Essential qualities include professional tact, political acuity, diplomacy, sound judgment, and strict confidentiality.
- Exhibit a strong student-centered focus by staying informed about School and student achievements and translating these into philanthropic and strategic outcomes. Develop compelling stories to inspire action.
