The Position
Rosseau Lake College is seeking an enthusiastic, innovative, and student-centered educator to join our faculty as a Physics, Mathematics & Global Experience Coordinator for a one-year contract position covering a maternity leave during the 2026–2027 academic year.
The successful candidate will teach senior-level Physics, Mathematics and Green Industries courses while contributing meaningfully to the school’s Global Experience and experiential learning programming. Working collaboratively with colleagues across academic and co-curricular programs, this educator will help students develop scientific literacy, critical thinking, problem-solving skills, and meaningful connections to the world around them.
Experience and/or interest in Green Industries, environmental sustainability, outdoor education, or land-based education is considered a strong asset.
This is a full-time contract position with the possibility of extension subject to staffing and program needs.
Key Responsibilities
Academic Program
- Teach senior-level Physics and Mathematics courses in alignment with the Ontario curriculum
- Teach Green Industries or an equivalent course, with an understanding of how land-based, environmental, and sustainability education may connect to Muskoka and Rosseau Lake College’s 56-acre campus, is considered an asset
- Coordinate our Global Experience exchange and Round Square opportunities within the school in alignment with our Round Square partnership and partner schools,, travel is not necessary but willingness and experience with student travel is considered an asset
- Develop and implement learner-centered instructional and assessment practices that support student engagement and achievement
- Foster inclusive, inquiry-driven, and relationship-centered classroom environments
- Integrate technology, experiential learning, interdisciplinary thinking, and real-world application into teaching practice
- Contribute to the continued development of Global Experience and experiential learning opportunities within the school
- Support differentiated learning approaches and collaborate with Student Success staff to meet diverse learner needs
- Prepare thoughtful assessment, evaluation, and reporting that supports student growth and achievement
- Participate actively in departmental collaboration, professional growth, and curriculum innovation
Community Life & Co-Curricular Program
- Participate actively in the broader life of the school community, including periodic evening and weekend responsibilities in support of the boarding program and student experience (approximately five times per school year)
- Contribute to co-curricular programming, athletics, outdoor education, clubs, service learning, or student leadership initiatives
- Serve as a student advisor/mentor within the school’s mentorship program
- Participate in experiential education initiatives, including RLC’s Outtrip Program and other community events (no experience is required)
- Support and model the values, standards, and culture of the RLC community
Qualifications & Attributes
- Ontario College of Teachers certification (or eligibility for certification) is considered an asset
- Undergraduate degree in Physics, Mathematics, Engineering, Environmental Sciences, or a related discipline
- Familiarity with Ontario curriculum courses including Physics 11 (SPH3U), Physics 12 (SPH4U), and Functions 11 (MCR3U) or equivalent senior secondary courses
- Experience teaching senior Physics and Mathematics courses is preferred
- Previous teaching experience in an independent school or experiential learning environment is considered an asset
- Demonstrated passion for innovative and student-centered teaching and learning
- Strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills
- Ability to build positive relationships with students, colleagues, and families
- Commitment to experiential, inquiry-based, and relationship-centered education
- Experience with outdoor education, sustainability education, interdisciplinary learning, or experiential programming is considered an asset
- Familiarity with or interest in the Green Industries (THJ2O/THJ3M) curriculum, and an understanding of how land-based, environmental, and sustainability education may connect to Muskoka and Rosseau Lake College’s 56-acre campus, is considered an asset
- Willingness to contribute fully to the academic, co-curricular, and community life of an independent boarding school
Relationships & Workplace Requirements
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a dynamic school community
- At times, the position will require work outside of regular school hours in support of co-curricular, experiential, and community programming
- The role may require flexibility to support evening or weekend school events, outdoor education experiences, and community programming
- Regular and ongoing communication with students, families, and community partners
- Candidates must be able to reliably commute to Rosseau Lake College’s campus in Rosseau, Ontario, or be willing to relocate to the greater Muskoka region, including Bracebridge, Huntsville, Seguin, Parry Sound, and surrounding communities
- Successful candidates will be required to provide a current Vulnerable Sector Screening
Compensation
Salary Range: $54,854 – $112,560
Compensation will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
