Job Overview
The Development & Alumni Coordinator plays an integral role in supporting the Development & Alumni Affairs Department to build, manage and strengthen life-long relationships in our RNS community (alumni, parents, employees and friends of the School). In line with our RNS Advancement model, this role will help coordinate communications and events, and apply robust database management practices to support effective and accurate communications and events that maximize engagement, build advocacy, increase philanthropic awareness and fundraise for the School's priorities and future plans. Being part of a small team that has a big impact, the Development & Alumni Coordinator must display a strong work ethic, be highly adaptable and collaborative, and demonstrate our RNS values and a strong sense of community.
Key Responsibilities
Database Management
- Maintain the donor management database (Raiser’s Edge/RENXT) to ensure accurate donor records
- Ensure data consistency through regular information updates and data clean-up
- Create queries, generate lists, and perform donor analysis to support donor reconciliation and reporting
- Manage and maintain up-to-date donor information (prospective and current donors)
Relationship Management and Research
- Provide timely responses to inquiries as the first point of contact
- Supporting the RNS Mentorship and donor stewardship programs
- Support donor retention and renewal to ensure the ongoing development and expansion of the donor base
- Undertake targeted research on alumni and donors
- Provide regular insights to support prospecting initiatives and pipeline management
Communications and Events
- Support the philanthropic culture among alumni, parents, employees, and friends of the School
- Assist with and attend the Advancement-initiated activities and other RNS events as required
- Work with the Marketing and Communications Department to promote Development events, highlight alumni, and spotlight donor recognition
- Establish and maintain effective relationships and communication with the RNS young alumni base
Qualifications
- Undergraduate degree or post-secondary education in Business, Marketing, Communications, Information Systems or related
- 2-3 years of related experience in database management, gifting, fundraising, donor management, school or non-profit environments
- Solid knowledge of Blackbaud and Raiser’s Edge or similar donor management CRM and database systems
- Highly organized, meticulous and proactive multitasker
- Good interpersonal skills, collaborative, optimistic and able to build relationships with a variety of stakeholders
- Excellent written and presentation skills
- Analytic, creative problem-solver, with willingness and ability to learn (growth mindset)
- Action-oriented, ability to manage multiple projects with great follow-through
- Proficiency with Google Suite / MS Office with advanced Google Sheets / Excel
