Hillfield Strathallan College is currently recruiting for two Grade 5 teaching positions:
- One Permanent Grade 5 Teacher (Grade Level Leader)
- One Contract Grade 5 Teacher
The permanent position includes the additional responsibility of serving as the Grade 5 Grade Level Leader, providing leadership to the Grade 5 team and supporting the overall student experience at the grade level. Subject focus will be assigned as follows:
- One position will have a Math/Science focus
- One position will have a Humanities/English focus
Position Overview:
We are seeking energetic, positive, and collaborative educators who will work closely with colleagues and the Middle School Leadership Team to support student learning in the classroom and through experiential opportunities, including trips, co-curricular, and athletic programs.
Under the direction of the Principal of the Middle School, the teacher is responsible for:
- Designing and implementing engaging, inquiry-based, and developmentally appropriate learning experiences
- Long- and short-term curriculum planning, including lesson design, assessment development, and program delivery
- Differentiated instruction to meet diverse student needs
- Assessment, evaluation, and reporting of student learning
- Establishing effective, supportive, and respectful relationships with students
- Maintaining clear and ongoing communication with students and families
- Supporting student well-being by collaborating with colleagues (e.g., teachers, counsellors, and student success teams)
- Employing effective classroom management strategies to support a positive and productive learning environment
- Participating in faculty meetings, professional development, and ongoing learning
- Contributing to the co-curricular life of the College, including supervision duties and extracurricular involvement
Qualifications
- An undergraduate degree in English, Humanities and/or Math/Science or related disciplines.
- An Ontario Teachers’ Certificate or equivalent and Honours Specialist qualifications.
- A minimum of two (2) years of teaching experience.
- May be required to teach other subjects.
- The ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community.
