OVERVIEW
Ridley College has an exciting opportunity for a Learning Strategist to support our Upper School (Grades 9-12), commencing September 2026.

The Learning Strategist supports students experiencing learning challenges by identifying needs, interpreting professional assessments, and recommending, developing, and delivering services that reduce barriers to learning. Working collaboratively with students, families, faculty, and leadership, the Learning Strategist helps ensure students are supported to access the curriculum, develop effective learning strategies, and flourish at Ridley and beyond.
In addition, the role will:
· Identify and support students with diverse learning profiles and learning needs
· Interpret psychoeducational assessments and related documentation to develop and maintain Student Success Plans (SSPs)
· Collaborate with students, parents, faculty, school leadership, and support teams to ensure effective implementation of accommodations and strategies
· Support and monitor students with SSPs, including regular check-ins and refinement of learning strategies
· Support English Language Learners (ELLs) in collaboration with relevant departments
· Recruit, coordinate, and oversee subject tutors supporting students through the Learning Centre
· Participate in weekly Student Support Team (SST) meetings and relevant case conferences
· Build and maintain relationships with appropriate community agencies and external service providers
· Organize, curate, and recommend learning resources and assistive tools to support student learning
· Stay current with educational research, learning strategies, and assistive technologies, and apply this knowledge to practice
· Collaborate flexibly and collegially within departmental and interdisciplinary teams
· Communicate clearly and compassionately with parents and advisors regarding student learning progress, including post-report card meetings where appropriate
This role includes participation in co-curricular life, such as coaching two terms of sport, offering one term of activities, serving as an advisor, and serving on a boarding house duty team.
QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION:
· Bachelor of Education or a related degree
· Ontario College of Teachers certification (or equivalent) at the Intermediate/Senior level
· Special Education Specialist qualification (or equivalent)
EXPERIENCE & OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
· Minimum of five (5) years’ experience teaching and/or supporting secondary school students with diverse learning profiles and learning needs
· Strong working knowledge of curriculum expectations and secondary school programming
· Extensive understanding of evidence-based learning accommodations and instructional strategies
· Working knowledge of psychoeducational assessments, with the ability to interpret professional reports and translate recommendations into effective educational supports
· Experience identifying, evaluating, and implementing appropriate learning tools, assistive technology, and educational resources
· Strong interpersonal, communication, and collaborative skills, with the ability to work effectively with students, families, faculty, and leadership
· Demonstrated capacity to contribute fully to the co-curricular life of the school, including advisory, supervision, and boarding-related responsibilities
· Athletics coaching experience (e.g., rowing, basketball, rugby, hockey, or other sports) is considered an asset
· Experience in an independent and/or boarding school environment is considered an asset

This is a replacement position.
Salary Range: $68K-$127K, based on the Ridley Faculty Salary Grid, which varies according to qualifications and years of teaching experience. Early-career faculty salaries range from $68,000 to $98,000, while faculty with seven or more years of experience earn between $99,000 and $127,000.
