Position Description
We are seeking a detailed-oriented, enthusiastic Accountant to join the Business Office team at KBS. This role is ideal for someone who is confident in independently managing day-to-day accounting functions. The Accountant will be responsible for accounts payable, accounts receivables, payroll and general support to the Controller and Head of School. Position Responsibilities
Accounts Payable
- Review and record staff reimbursement requests
- Gather payment information from payees and create electronic payments
- Manage school credit card transactions, gather receipts, and handle all related inquiries
- Obtain monthly statements from recurring vendors and reconcile them against the AP Aging Summary
- Ensure all payment requests meet necessary criteria including proper coding, approvals, and correct sales tax application
Accounts Receivable
- Collect all tuition fees (including deposits)
- Assist with tracking miscellaneous fees (field trip, pizza, etc)
- Set up new families in Quickbooks, and collect/record initial payments, setup payment plan options with scheduled due dates
- Generate and send invoices to families, process refunds to them, and apply payments to their accounts
Payroll & Benefits
- Assist with the semi-monthly payroll processing cycle
- Serve as the point of contact for group health benefits inquiries
- Administer the process of adding, updating, and removing staff members from benefit plans
Qualifications and Experience
- Strong accounting skills and knowledge of appropriate internal controls
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in an accounting role
- Attention to detail and the ability to prioritize a variety of tasks
- CPA or working towards designation an asset
- Basic knowledge of fundamental accounting standards and principles
- Experience with digital document management or workflow automation
- Experience with QuickBooks Online
- Familiarity with commonly used Google Workspace apps (e.g. Gmail, Google Sheet)
- Minimum two (2) years experience with accounts receivable, accounts payable, and/or general bookkeeping preferably in a non-profit organization

The salary range for this position is $60,000 - $75,000 and reflects the required experience and qualifications for this role. Final compensation will be determined based on the successful candidate’s unique skill set and may vary from the listed range.
As a condition of employment, the successful candidate must provide a Vulnerable Sector Check (VSC) current within six months of date of hire.
