Toddler/Children’s House Specialist – Integrated Arts Teacher and Student Life Liaison

Overview
Reporting to the Head of Toddler/Children’s House, the Integrated Arts Teacher is responsible for updating and enhancing the visual arts, music and drama programs in our Toddler and Children’s House programs to reflect a more vibrant Lauremont School Arts Pillar and to ensure the program reflects a progressive and integrated approach to instruction. The aim is to provide dynamic programs, with a focus on integration, joy and the cultivation of compassion and empathy through artistic expression. This is a full time permanent faculty position commencing late August 2026.
Key Responsibilities and Tasks:
#1 - Responsibilities – Classroom
- Working closely with the Head of Toddler/Children’s House to create a vibrant integrated arts program
- Collaborating with and supporting the work of the teachers
- Developing and implementing a dramatic arts program for Children’s House 1 students and expanding the Children’s House 2/3 Integrated Arts Program
- Planning and coordinating December and May concerts and other Arts Showcases for the Children’s House and Elementary Department
- Supporting the Visual Arts and Music program through curricular updates and performance plans
- Planning, coordinating and supporting all aspects of the production of the annual Lauremont School Elementary Play including choosing a script, organizing rehearsals and costumes, coordinating students and teachers, etc.
- Informally integrating drama in the classes by partnering with the homeroom teachers to supplement units, lessons, and themes
- Leading and organizing Children’s House Assemblies
- Leading and organizing assemblies with the Elementary Student Life Lead
- Being an active and positive participant in the extracurricular and community life of the school
- Work in conjunction with the Elementary Integrated Arts Specialist, music and visual arts to create a foundation for the Children’s House Arts program – establish work needed to progress the program. Aligning content and connecting with others.
# 2 - Responsibilities – School Community
- Develop and maintain a standard of professional behaviour, within and beyond the classroom, which exemplifies Montessori and International Baccalaureate principles
- Promote and create a collegial and supportive environment with teachers
- Participate actively in faculty and department meetings to plan, review and update the written curriculum
- Establish and maintain an orderly and attractive school environment in accordance with Montessori and International Baccalaureate principles
- Participate in community activities, related but not limited to, student development, parent education and public relations such as school concerts
- Work collaboratively with colleagues to develop, implement and evaluate school curriculum
- Seek out and participate in co-curricular activities each academic year for the benefit of students and the school community
- Determine and participate in professional development activities to support personal growth as well as the growth and development of the School.
# 3 - Responsibilities – Academic Support
- Fulfill the role of a classroom teacher in the event of a teacher’s absence from his/her assigned classroom
- Act as a resource for material making in classrooms as designated by the Academic Head for drama, movement and dance
- All other duties as assigned

Education/Experience/Qualifications
- Bachelor of Education and/or Montessori teacher training diploma is required
- Drama and either Music or Visual Arts qualifications an asset
- A demonstrated passion for the arts
- Commitment to strong student and teacher relationships
- A proven professional approach and work ethic
- Independent School experience is an asset
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- A current Vulnerable Sector Check
- Current First Aid, CPR and AED
The salary range is based on our salary grid and ranges from $52,687 to $123,028, with placement on the grid determined by qualifications and years of eligible and related experience. These amounts are based on our current year grid, which may increase for the 2026–2027 academic year.
